How Great is Our God!

As we come to the end of another year, I am very thankful for what God has done for me in the year of 2009. While it was a year of chaos, conflicts, and conspiracy, I look back over each ordeal and discover how God used my enemies, haters, and backstabbers to bring me to a place of peace and providence through many obstacles. I have discovered who is truly Kingdom-focused and not trying to implement their own agendas. God continuously reminds me of the time when I petitioned Him for more of His anointing over my life. Little did I realize what I was truly asking God for in my personal, professional and ministerial life... well did God ever give it to me??? God demonstrated His power and authority over my life in a manner in which man could never receive the Glory.

Now, the real question is how did it feel? Words can never describe how painful the hurt was during my season... how each day I wanted the pain to disappear. There were people who purposely tried to discredit me and people that would smile in my face and turn and plot to dismember my spirit. I stand to share with my circle today, no matter what people say, do or even think, trust God no matter what it seems like. I am a recipient of the favor of God over my life and according to His word, I shall be the head and not the tail, I will be the lender and not the borrower!

To my family, friends, members of VCC, and co-laborers of the Gospel, my prayer for each one of you is to walk into the blessings that God is ready to pour on you. Don’t allow the enemy to continue to use you as puppet on a string, release yourself from the bondage that has bound you over the years. People may call you crazy but don’t forget you serve a MIGHTY and POWERFUL GOD!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I Give Myself Away

One of the hardest obstacles I have faced in life is getting out of God’s way in my life. As I reflect over my journey, I have discovered that God has always worked things out for my good, but my microwave faith of wanting things immediately and not having patience have caused me to experience many setbacks and even hurt and pain. Today, trust me when I tell you my desire is to allow God to work it out the way He chooses. I may not understand why or what is happening but I do not worry about things anymore. For when I totally surrender all to Him, I have discovered that He does more than I could have expected, desired or wanted. Many of you will read this and agree with me that we all experience these types of situations. To be very honest, as believers it is very difficult to sometimes comprehend how God is working on our behalf when we are facing eviction, financial hardships, health issues, loss of a job, and family problems. But I stand on the Word of God and tell you this, no matter how much it seems that you are not going to make it through, tell God you are letting it go and giving it to Him and watch Him work it out!

Being Grateful

Often times we take the blessings of God for granted. I had the opportunity of meeting two families from third world countries who where recently relocated to our area to get a new start in life. As I entered into their home, I could see the hope in their eyes and hear the gratefulness in their voices as they spoke through the translator. The excitement of knowing I was there to help them in any way and make their transition a bit smoother was an awesome testimony. I was so overwhelmed with their needs I could not walk away nor leave them just hanging. That same afternoon I gathered the troops (Sister Lisa, Sister LaMonica, Sister Tracy and Pastor Plaza) and we returned to their home to assess all their needs and left for the store. We returned and again I experienced what I call the true blessings from God… I was able to witness their joy and happiness as I saw VCC women put the shoes on their feet, put up the clothes to their bodies and hand them items that were desperately needed. Immediately the Word of God pierced my heart because it tells us to give and it will be given unto to you! The language barrier could have hindered us from being a blessing to these families, but we overcame that obstacle and we left with the fullness of God in each of us. We were tired and worn out from a day of Kingdom work but what a sense of fulfillment of doing the work of the Lord. I would not trade that day for anything in the world! To God be the glory!

A Season of Change

The other day I was driving towards Stafford on I-95 and noticed how the trees and leaves were changing. It was an awesome sight to see the different colors blend. Just a couple of months ago, we were looking at the same trees and leaves and they were all pretty and green. However, there was a shift in the weather, which caused the change in colors to occur. Many times, we experience “temperature changes” in our lives; we encounter the same changes that the leaves encounter. Some of you, like me, will go through a season of trials and tribulations; some will encounter a season pain and suffering; some will experience a season of ups-and-downs; and others a season of peace, joy, and happiness. The amazing thing about seasons is the fact that the season inevitable changes. The season is here but only for a short period of time.

I have discovered through all my seasons -- whatever they may be – that I will not allow any season to derail my connection to God. To be quite honest, I have determined those seasons are necessary in order for me to move forward in the things of God. All changes are relevant in our lives because they display our character. We find out what we are really made of and how to make the necessary adjustments to stay on course. To those that are currently in a season of change, remember God has your back! No matter how it looks, I am telling you that God will change you for the better. Even if you don’t feel loved, He loves you… even with all the stuff and baggage you carry he wants you to know that your change is coming.

Putting Your Priorities in Place

Each day I begin my day writing things I need to accomplish… a “To-Do” list if you will. I prioritize every task in order to ensure that I stay on track. While this may seem a bit over the top for some, for me it’s how I stay focused and on track. The first priority on my list is praying, praising, and reading God's word. It seems the older I get the faster time goes by. Sometimes it feels like there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done. Everyone has so much going on and it seems that we can never get ahead, if its not one thing it’s another, but we must remember that sometimes we need to set priorities in our life. We need parameters; we need to re-focus our thoughts, direction and objectives. Our first priority is to have a personal relationship with God; this is the key to having it all. God wants to have a personal relationship with you, he wants to spend time with you, he wants to go places with you, and he wants quality time with you. I encourage you to spend time with God each day by reading His Word, praying, worshipping and meditating. Jesus says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”, when you put God first in your life he has promised that other things you desire, want or need will be added to your life. What a wonderful way to live your life, making God your priority in everything you do!

Celebration Time!

Can you say O-V-E-R-F-L-O-W? This is how I am feeling right about now, within a few days of celebrating our 2nd Year Church Anniversary, there is a strong anointing that is fresh, powerful and emerging in VCC. As I look back over the past year, I am reminded of how God has worked in this ministry. What is awesome to me is the fact that every time VCC encountered an attack, there is a group who I call my “Spiritual Fighters” (military term) who would prepare for combat and intercede for this ministry. They would sacrifice themselves for the movement of the Kingdom and endure all kinds of bruises, scars, and even amputation to advance the work of VCC. I am so grateful to God for them and I constantly petition God to give them the desires of their heart and pour blessings on them they will not have room enough to receive. It’s amazing this Sunday VCC will have served the community for 2 years… time has gone by so fast but I wouldn’t trade it for the world! When God gives me something I take it very seriously… VCC is my life and I will always be passionate about this church. Have I made some mistakes in ministry? I surely have but I am always reminded of John Maxwell’s book, “Failing Forward”. You have to have the courage to get out of the boat and believe you can walk on water with God. We are preparing to enter into a realm of ministry that has never been seen or never been done. God will use VCC to become the catalyst of stepping outside of the box and becoming a church that will advance the Kingdom of God !

The Power is in Your Worship

Greetings,It has been some time since I've updated my blog and I must convey I have truly missed writing and sharing with everyone. I don’t know where to start so I will just jump in and go from there. On Sunday, VCC experienced a move of God like never before... our praise and worship was so awesome! The Tribe of Levi and Total Experience ministered in a manner that took us to another level. We worshiped the whole service in song, for an hour and half we allowed our praise and worship to flow to God. For the first time, I noticed people truly worshipping God in a way like never before. I was so full of His presence that tears rolled down my face in awe of the anointing that was falling upon VCC. This is what we are called to do in the Word, give him “total praise and worship”. We are embarking on a new level at VCC, our ministries have answered the call to serve and surrendered themselves to God's anointing.I have so much going on in my life but it’s all good. My Dad had surgery on last week and he is doing alright. He is 84 years old and deacon at his church. He loves the Lord and his church; my father is someone I truly admire. He has had the same ritual ever since I can remember... every night he listens to someone preaching as he showers and before he goes to bed. He will be in his bathroom with the Word blasting! He says that he wants to hear the Word before he goes to bed. This has always intrigued me because this is a part of his daily regiment. Listening to God’s word everyday... now that’s power!

Child-Like Faith

My daughter Alexandria (9 years old) is the epitome of Jesus’ teaching of faith. Ever since I can remember she has possessed a divine gift of prayer and faith. I am always amazed how she comforts me with her words of encouragement and empowerment. During my seasons of testing, she calls and says “Dad, I am calling to check on you and see if you are alright”. Her words touch my heart in a way that bring tears to my eyes. She always asks about the church, ministries and my preaching or teaching. When I share with her where God is leading me, she always tells me that she will pray and ask God for His favor. I told her about the possibility of the church moving and she said that she would pray and fast. Immediately I asked her what did she know about fasting? She explained to me what it means to fast in a child-like manner, “to give up something you like” and pray. I was so amazed with her response but then again I should not have been because she has an unconditional faith in God. I have truly learned from this child who believes that God can do anything and everything. Whenever I need a word from the Lord, he uses this little girl to bring peace, joy and comfort to my soul. I truly feel that God speaks to me through Alexandria when I feel discouraged, disheartened or dismayed. Through her, He lets me know that everything is working according to His purpose and this is why I love Him and Alexandria!

We’re Moving!

VCC is preparing to move our Sunday worship service starting August 30th. I must convey that I am excited about achieving another milestone in our journey. We currently worship in a high school auditorium that seats 760 but we will be moving to a church facility that will give us a more up and close, personal atmosphere. I watched many of the leaders when we toured the church and I could sense the anxiety of having less space than we are accustomed to. Often times we take for granted the comforts we have and don’t realize how blessed we truly are. Sometimes we need to take a step down to take two steps up… this is difficult for many but in ministry there will be times God will take you places that will require you to humble yourself. God is stretching our leaders by helping them understand the call of ministry. He is equipping them to become more Kingdom‑minded rather than program‑minded. Some leaders will follow the call while others will struggle with the vision and mission of the ministry. God is calling the leaders to come together on one accord and when this happens He will take them to places never imagined or thought of according to His promise!

God’s Favor

Yesterday was an awesome day in worship, the Praise and Worship was so anointed as the team gave themselves to God. As always, the dance ministry activated and enhanced the worship experience. I was feeling the spirit of God upon me during my sermon as I surrendered myself to Him. My microphone setting was great and I didn’t have to strain (thanks sound team). Then our band was pumping today (even though Bros.. Todd and Alberto were absent)! We have some great people that are behind the scenes that make our worship experience so powerful and to them I am truly grateful. I announced that we will be moving to our new location starting August 30th. God has opened a door for us and we are excited as we prepare for our new location. I shared with the people how God is preparing VCC for a “radical” change in our ministry. We will be breaking obstacles, barriers and roadblocks to reach the masses in Stafford. People are seeking a ministry that does more than just talk but will meet people where they are in life and empower them with the Word of God. Get ready VCC!

A New Begining

Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior,

Wow! I never imagined that I would be blogging but I must admit it's really cool. First, I want to give God all the Glory for allowing me the opportunity to share with family, friends, congregation and people from all walks of life. I look forward to sharing my victories as well as my struggles, obstacles and defeats. My prayer for you is that God will continue to pour His richest blessings over your life, as you continue to walk into your destiny and purpose.
